What is an “auto tune” plugin? What do you want it to do?

If you have GarageBand which I’m sure you do you can fake the effect quite well in there. Theres a couple of videos on YouTube to take you through the process. The actual company is called Antares and any “true” auto tune plug in would be available through them

[Shane Ross] “What is an “auto tune” plugin? What do you want it to do?”

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto-Tune

    Excerpt:

“Auto-Tune was used to produce the prominent altered vocal effect on Cher’s “Believe”, recorded in 1998, the first major hit song to employ the software for this purpose.”

Two of the most popular software tools used for autotuning are Antares Autotune and Celemony Melodyne.

Used to great comic effect in the Autotune the News series of viral videos – search YouTube for examples.

I made this little throw-away piece using the auto-tune emulation technique in Garage Band as has been mentioned. Wasn’t very hard to do, and the price was right.

Guy at the end sounds like the organ solo of “What A Lucky man He Was”, or some ELP synth solos:-)

The one only, and certainly the only one who’s an editor… yes.

Wasn’t looking to do anything specific, just was curious if anyone was developing a plugin that could be used in the timeline. I’ve seen the garage band one, how do you do it soundtrack pro?

hmm, sounds like I’ll just have to play around with it one of those rare free moments.

I use extract, but only because I don’t have a mash ton. one day it’ll be beside the kegerator in my garage turned brewery…

For STP, or GB any autotune plugin that is AU will work. Antares has one, but there are others if you poke around. GB has a basic autotune like function built into it.
