I hope you can help me.

I have a some “locked” camera footage from 2008 in ProRez 422 format within which are multiple scenes.
I would like to use this footage in a new edit. Is there a way in DaVinci Resolve 18 which automaticity detects the scene changes and splits them or will I have to do this manually ?

    Many thanks.

Shot detection has been a feature of Resolve or a long time. I’ve used it a few times and it usually does an excellent job with maybe a couple of tricky shots to be manually adjusted. Highly recommend going to the manual and following the steps. There may be someone who covers this on YouTube but I did it with the manual’s help. There is also a way to auto split a file back into individual shots using an EDL if you have an EDL of the original timeline.

    Hi Michael

Many thanks for your help. I’ve found “Detect Scene Cuts” and it does just what I needed and very well.

    Thanks Ian
