  • Auto Rotate layers only as master position null moves?

    Hey Folks,

I have a ladybug with the wings and little legs separated. Its a top view 2d very simple ladybug. I have a lot of them to animate and I was searching for a way to automatically achieve this with some expressions. Right now I have a Null with each layer parented to it (1 body, 4 legs, 2 wings). How can I animate the position of this Null and have the wings “flap” or rotate based on a set degree? Can I make them flap fast/slow? set a speed?

For the legs they just need wiggle slightly. Same goes for this.. How can I link the master Null position to drive the rotation of the legs?

    Thank you

    -Trevor

    I’d use the expression: loopOut(“pingpong”)

Set two rotation keyframes for the upper and lower points of the wing flap, then with the expression above, it will bounce the wings from one keyframe to the nexct and back again. Moving the keyframes closer together or further apart will let you set a speed.

If you need the wings to start and stop, nest the flapping animation and use Time Remapping to control that aspect.
