    Dearest Fellow Creative Bovine:

Yes, the dreaded “AUTO OFF…. T-REEL LOCK” has reared its ugly head on a brand new, out-of-box DVX100B. Seems to be a problem with Tape Supply Reel Take-Up.

From what I’ve gathered elsewhere, this is not a good thing. It seems to be on par with a return or trip to a Panasonic Service Center. This was the 1st message on camera power-up and subsequent new tape attempts with just-opened Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ tapes.

Just thought I’d post here to see if others have had similar issues and if they were remedied. Also curious if I should just box this guy up and get it out the door ASAP.

    Any and and input appreciated…..

    Thanks,

    Michael

I am having the same problem with a Panasonic AG-DVX100P camera. Only I get the message when I am trying to capture some tapes. When I am recording or capturing some other tapes it works fine…

Me too..re: T reel lock. Could this be an overheating problem when I am out in the sun? Anyone know anything about it? I have already had this serviced by Panasonic once…obviously no luck. Any clues?

It only happens to me when I go outside at 0′ C and it’s normal.
The DVX is made for interior shooting.
