    HI,

I am working on a SD widescreen show right now and everytime I import any 16×9 footage FCP automatically does a -33 distort to it to make it anamorphic. Alot of the clips are coming from after effects so it’s getting aggravating to have to go into every clip and bring the distortion back to 0. Is there any way to stop FCP from distorting the video on import?

    Cheers,

    John

FCP is designed to work with broadcast formats. There is no such thing as an NTSC widescreen 16:9 format…not in broadcast. So FCP makes the footage anamorphic, because that’s how you typically deliver widescreen SD.

No way to change that upon import, but you can copy one clip and paste the attributes (distort) to the other clips.

The footage get that distortion because is interpreted as Anamorphic by FC, so you must to go to the Browser and make sure that the 4×3 stuff is not checked on the “Anamorphic” column.
