Audition CS6 effect insert
How do I insert a plug-in effect into my recording? I want to compress the signal before it’s recorded without using out board gear.

I’m fairly certain you can’t unless I’m missing some aspect of Audition that I’ve never had to use.
With that being said… it doesn’t give you an advantage logically. Once that signal hits your sound cards A/D converter, all internal processing is basically the same. It’s not like using an analog compressor or a digital compressor with high quality A/D/A.
The only advantage is if you’re capturing at 24/48000 and your session is at 8/44100… but at that point, just adjust your settings to match your capture quality.
