Audition 2.0 not recognizing DivX Audio?
Posted by Mike Wheeler on October 19, 2006 at 6:20 pmHello,
I am trying to bring files ripped from DVD and compressed into a DivX AVI compression, but when I import them into Audition it says there is no audio, but when I play them using Windows Media Player there is audio….
Any Ideas?
Thanks!

October 20, 2006 at 12:02 amIt may be the file type, can you save as an AVI file and not a DivX file … Just guessing but that is the only thing that makes sence to me right now ………. WILLIE

October 20, 2006 at 1:14 amThanks for your response…
I can’t change the file type becuase I have 800+ files, and they are limited to what size they can be… They are currently AVI’s, but are compressed with DivX… I can bring other DivX compressed files in with success, just none of the ones I need to!
When I try to bring the file into After Effects it gives me the warning “No Such Avi Compressor” … but I can watch and listen to the file perfectly using Windows Media Player…

October 20, 2006 at 2:52 amIf After Effects can’t deal with it I am pretty sure it’s your file extension that is your problem since it handles the same file extensions as Audition ……….. WILLIE

October 20, 2006 at 1:44 pmI’m not sure as to how the extension would be causing problems, it is an AVI…

October 20, 2006 at 1:49 pmIf after effects won’t take it then audition won’t so I would think that it’s not a true AVI … Do you have Pre Pro? If so try importing it into Pre Pro … If you have the same problem then that pretty well is the answer … Wish I had some resolution for you but I don’t at this point ……….. WILLIE

October 20, 2006 at 2:02 pmNo, I don’t have pre-pro, I’ve never heard of it… I’ll take a look around to see if I can find it and give it a try…
Thanks again…

October 20, 2006 at 2:58 pmHey..
Guess I should figured “Pre-Pro” was “Premiere”… not up on the lingo!
I just tried bringing into Pre-Pro, and it never leaves the “Importing Files” screen…so I guess therein lies the problem, it doesn’t seem to be a true avi file….
These files were ripped from DVD using AOA DVD ripper, and ripped into a DivX compression….
Would you have any idea as to how I can convert these to true avi so I can bring them into Audition and normalize all of the audio?
Thanks for all of your time and help, you’re very handy!:)
Cheers,

October 20, 2006 at 4:15 pmTry to right click on a file and go to RENAME and change the file extension to .avi, it’s a shot in the dark but it may work ………. WILLIE
