Audio/Video Sync Issue
Hello all.
I’m using a Panasonic Lumix ZS7 to record video. Meanwhile, I’m recording audio in real-time using a software on my computer. The final video will use the “computer-recorded” audio rather then the camera’s audio.
My ZS7 is using Motion JPEG.
I imported the video into Final Cut. The audio from the camera naturally synchs well with the video. When synching the new audio, however, there is an issue. While it starts off great, by the end (appx 3+ minutes) the audio goes off.
I’m a bit puzzled as to why this is happening. My audio set up is quite reliable, which makes me wonder if the camera is doing something funky in terms of time-stretching. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I seriously doubt it’s the camera… it’s much more likely that the audio recording isn’t to real time.
Try changing the speed of the playback of the computer captured audio to match that of the video. You might be able to do this as a fit to fill edit in fact. Place the video in a sequence, then set the in point and out points in the sequence where the audio should start and stop… do the same in the Viewer with this computer recorded audio so that the in point should be say, where the audio should start in sync, then set the out point where the audio should still be in sync with the video. Then perform a fit to fill edit with the audio only.

Before you do anything, please read this tutorial (second half) that explains how to import audio assets into FCP. You probably have a frame rate mismatch between your default project settings and your current sequence.
