    yeah but you’d be a key-frammin’ fool. You can aplly a waveform effect to a wav file in AE and it will animate for you.

    If AE can do it super easy, then definitely go that route, but Motion has more capability than one might think… there is a Behavior called Paramater > Audio that will allow you to sync other behaviors/paramaters with bass, treble, mids, or overall frequencies. If you have separate audio tracks (drums, guitar, etc.) each track could animate a different aspect of an image… so you can definitely animate images/video/whatever to music in Motion.

    Chapter 14 of the Apple Pro Training Series “Motion 3” book, shows you how to animate a puppet by making his arms, legs, head and torso dance with music.
