I’ve noticed the audio waveform redraw speeds are quite slow on my quad g5.

Everytime I zoom in or move it redraws the whole thing. It should be caching it. once it has draw it one time it should not need to keep redrawing.

question, has anyone noticed faster redraw speeds with higher end video cards?
I’m running the stock pci-e nvidia that came with it.

FCP is the only editing app i know that takes so long to draw these.

Have you hit Shift-z to reveal the whole timeline, and then let them draw?

I always leave them off until I NEED them. Then, I zoom into the place where I want it and turn them on. Then adjust — and turn them off.

    That’s probably best.

The waveforms can be painfully slow on larger sequences. and they try to redraw everytime you move the timeline or zooma t all. Unless I’m editing audio I leave them off

ok, so its not just me.

It almost seems like the waveform cache doesn’t even work.

If it did, it would not have to redraw every time after
    the first initial time.

    get it done apple!

Try deleting your waveform cache and rebuilding it. Reset it in System Preferences.

I am not sure, but I think it uses the same memory space as the Thumbnail Cache in the Memory & Cache settings. Try jacking up its settings on Disk and RAM and see if that helps. Don’t go too high or it will affect overall system performance.
