  • audio video sync?

I have one of stupider questions. I have captured some analog video that I need to edit. When I play it back in the source window, the video zips right to the end and the audio plays at the regular rate. Is that because I don’t have the A/V linked? If so, how do I link them? Or do I have to re-capture the whole thing?

    Avid XpressDV
    OS 10.3.9
    QT 6.5.2

Did you capture the audio seperately from the video?

Nope! The thing that has me so confused is that I did 3 test runs to be sure everything was working right. They went off without a hitch. So I moved on to the real deal. Now all of a sudden, big problem. I didn’t change any of the settings, so I’m at a loss as to what is going on. Truthfully, I didn’t even think the video and audio could play back at different speeds, but that certainly looks like that is what’s happening. I used a Canopus ADVC300 for the capture and I didn’t change anything on that either.

    What version are you using?

Have you checked your audio project settings? There is (somewhere – I’m not in front of a machine right now) a setting relating to capturing synched audio. It’s pretty obvious when you see it, but I don’t remember what it’s called…

Actually, I found the problem. I ‘tore off’ the fast menu from the Composer and, when I closed that window, everything went back to normal. It wasn’t overlapping any of the other windows, so what’s the connection?

Hmmm – did it happen after a software restart? Maybe you’ve found a bug. If you’re lucky, they’ll name it after you! 😉

    I’ve never seen that behaviour…

I have no idea either, but I’m not doing it again!

    Thanks for your help
