  • Audio Trouble When Exporting to Tape From Premiere CS4

    I have just recently upgraded to CS4 production sweet and i am having a bit a problem.

    The problem is that every time I try to export to tape, there is an approximate 6 sec delay before the audio starts.

    When I just play it on the time line, it plays fine, it only does the delay when I export to tape.

    Any ideas? Something very obvious I am overlooking? All help is gratefully appreciated.

    BTW I am exporting to a Sony DSR40, which the Premiere program recognizes.

    I am using an HP xw8200 workstation, Dual 3.4 Xeons with 3gigs of ram, and winxp service pack 3. I have installed the latest patches for Premiere.

    I can think of 2 workarounds;

    1. Insert 10 seconds of black video at the beginning of your sequence.
    2. Render the timeline and then manually start the camera recording and play the timeline out.

    Do you mean the final tape is 6 seconds out of sync? Or just that as it goes to tape the audio you are hearing is out of sync with the video you are seeing? If the latter, then you may be hearing the audio passing though the deck but seeing the video on the computer and those will be out of sync. If the tape is actually out of sync – then that’s a real problem – shouldn’t be possible using firewire.
