Audio tracks 3 & 4 not being output
Maybe I’m missing something obvious, but for now I’m stumped. I’m trying to export a quicktime file with 4 separate tracks of audio. I have my audio output settings set to 4 tracks, Dual Mono, and each track is pointed to its respective output number.
Tracks 1 & 2 sound fine. Track 3 (The music track) is visible in the audio mixer, but I can’t hear anything. The only way I’m able to hear that track is if I hit the stereo down mix button in the audio mixer, which I thought would negate having 4 separate tracks.
I went ahead and exported to quicktime just to see what would happen, and found that the file did actually contain 4 tracks of audio, but the 3rd track still could not be heard, even in quicktime. Just for fun, I reimported that new quicktime file into FCP, and it behaved the same way as the original, track 3 visible in the mixer, but muted unless I have the stereo downmix selected.
Any ideas? Surely I’m just missing something simple and obvious, right?

How is your audio monitoring set up?
do you have a Kona or Decklink Card?
If you have meter readings, the audio is likely there and you have something wrong in your monitoring setup

We’ve got it set up through a Matrox MX02 System. I’m not sure that’s the problem though, because anything outside of FCP (i.e. Quicktime) just uses the MacPro’s internal speakers, and we’re getting the audio problems there too.

Just being pedantic here, but track 1 should come out of whichever device you’re using’s track 1 output, 2 out of 2, 3 out of 3 and 4 out of 4. I suspect that you’re not monitoring the 4 tracks appropriately, e.g., your computer’s speakers will be stereo (tracks 1 and 2) so you won’t hear tracks 3 and 4 as there are no speakers 3 and 4 for those tracks to be heard on, you won’t hear them unless you tell the computer to give you a stereo mix… do you have monitoring which allows you to either choose which outputs of the matrox to hear or mix them together?
