Audio Timecode Reader Burn-in
In final cut how do I have the audio time code (wav files) burn-in to the picture to lay to tape? FCS has a timecode filter for the video but not for audio. Is there any solution to this? thanks

Do you have Squeeze or Episode Pro? I’m pretty sure you can set the timecode to anything you want with their Window Burn filters…
Ive not tried it, but you might be able to put video whose opacity is zero, and set that video’s timecode to match the audio’s timecode in FCP…?

We do have squeeze or episode pro but I don’t think this approach is what we need. I’m trying to sync picture(mov) with the wav audio files. The client wants one of the copy with the audio timecode burn in to the picture.

So… what you want is audio only with a black screen for the window burn?

No, i want picture and audio sync-ed, with the audio timecode burn in to the picture. I need to sync the picture and the wav files in FCS then lay it to tape.

You can use the time code generator filter to do this. Set the generator to start with the same TC number that the audio starts with, at the same rate, etc.

It would work with the “TC Reader” filter IF FC would be able to pick the TC of the WAV file.
A the TC Reader/Generator are Video filters, I don’t see any easy way.
There is a way but this should be prepared before editing:
Making a QT movie with the audio and TC of your WAV in any codec with Alfa Channel. Make the picture fully transparent. You must edit so this transparent Video would go always to the top Video Track in the FC time-line. Then just drop the TC Reader filter in this transparent picture. You will get the TC of the WAV file and underneath the picture that you are editing.
It works.
Bouke Vahl (videotoolshed.com) may have something better.
