  Audio Sync capture problems

  Having some problems capturing DV footage with the audio going slightly out of sync. The issue only occurs sporadically – we captured hours of footage without noticing the problem but now are coming across some (not all) clips that are out of sync, usually by only a few frames.

  Some of the footage is 12bit/32k which I know is known to cause this problem if the capture preset is set incorrectly. However, we have used the exact same capture presets, the same camera (canon xl2) and audio settings on previous projects and not had this problem so I really don’t think it’s related.

  The one thing that had changed was the hard disk so I thought this could be the problem – but I’ve tried recapturing clips to different hard disks (i.e. ones that we had used without problems before) and still encountered issues.

  We did have similar problems in the past and eventually found that it was just caused by doing other things on the computer (i.e. surfing the web, going on messenger) while the capturing was taking place… ever since then everything’s been fine as long as we left it alone while capturing. Until now.

  Any ideas?
