audio sync
I’m importing footage on my system from a XH-A1, the footage is 16:9 set to SD at a rate of 30 fps, could be 29.97. Recorded at 48hz.
Upon Importing to fcp I receive an audio drift issue that becomes more pronounced as the feed rolls on. I tried both variations of frame rates, to see what would happen.
The video is a conference about 1.5 hours in duration.
The duration of the audio and video appears the same on the timeline, however, the sync issue is there.
Midway through the import the camera will become confused, and hault the import, flashing play pause, play pause and back tracking frame by frame. Thus to import it is broken in to 2 40 min segments. I do not think it is a technical issue with the camera, but something in the transfer settings.
I used iMovie to capture it in .dv, but was not satisfied with the visual quality of the images.
My goal is to discover how to rematch out of sync footage. Or find how to capture it through FCP minus the audio sync issue.

-Potential issues that could lead to this sync problem.

If you’ve really rolled 90 minutes on a miniDV tape, you must have been in LP mode. Which is 32kHz audio.
LP mode causes endless headaches.

Easy solution to get it into something 48 DVD native?
I used to roll LP on my XL1 all the time never had import issues.

Cut in the native 32kHz, let compressor handle the transcode on export.

Thanks, I’ll recapture it at 32, see if that doesn’t do the trick.
