I’m using Vegas Pro 8 on a Vista 64 bit machine, and no matter what I do, I can only render about fifty minutes of audio of an hour and twenty minute presentation before the audio just completely drops out.

The video renders fine, but no sound after fifty minutes. I have checked the clips and all is fine. If I render the clips separately, the audio renders fine.

I’ve tried rendering as a wave file, I’ve tried rendering as a WMV, nothing I do seems to get the audio past that fifty minute limit.

WTF? Is this some kind of weird Vista copy protection to keep people from stealing DVD’s or something?

    Help!!

Okay, as I look closer at this system, the genius who built it didn’t bother to load the drivers for the X-Fi audio card. I’ve found the disk and am loading them as we speak. Hopefully, this will fix it.

    Sigh.

That didn’t do it. Soundcard is working fine, but Vegas will not render more than fifty minutes of sound. I’m about to tear my hair out here.

Okay, this just gets stranger and stranger.

So I took the very same clips and loaded them into Windows Moviemaker and lo and behold the audio renders just fine.

So, obviously, the problem is with Vegas Pro 8.

Anyone have any ideas what settings I should check. All the audio setting look normal.
