I have been searching for a solid week on the internet for a solution to this problem.

I record in h.264, ac3 5.1, MP4. I import the file to vegas and usually around the 30min to 1 hour mark the audio will start playing the audio from the start of the project and again later in the project. I’m using Vegas pro 10.a, I have tried the older trial versions of 8 and 9. I have tried many older versions of quicktime and even codec suggested by someone else.

If I open the mp4 to quicktime or media player, it plays fine from start to finish.

I am going to record in the other option, m2ts to see if I have a problem with that format, but I don’t know what else to try.

The only way I have been able to get around this is by rendering the file in Windows Live Movie Maker and taking the audio from that and the audio works fine.

Try reimporting? And yes I understand out plays correctly in other players.

Have you matched the project settings to the media? And here the audio? Take a look at the audio tab. How are your rulers set? In respect to mp4 editing I have converted to AVI for editing with no such issues.

    Interesting.

I just re-read your recipe of recording. This is out of my comfort zone. I’ll leave this for others to untangle.

You can’t import AC3 into Vegas. Is this a VOB file from a DVD?

Sorry, I’ve been swamped at work the last couple days! I can import the AC3 but it just becomes all messed up.

I’m recording with a HD PVR. I tried the other option on the PVR, M2Ts and that works fine, no problems. It seems to just be when I choose to record in MP4 and for some reason the audio becomes all messed up in Vegas. I guess I’ll just stick with M2TS. I just find this really odd because it’s the same audio ac3.

Weird result – I do know that if you extend a clip past it’s original length by dragging the right edge of the clip to the right, you you will be at the beginning of the clip again. The end point of the clip is denoted by a little “v” right where the clip ends. I’t don’t think that is the answer to your problem but I thought it might help
