Audio slipping
I read a bunch of thread postings about random FCP audio drifting. I’m having a similar problem but nobody seemed to really answer it on the threads so far so here it is- any help would be greatly appreciated!
I’ve been working with a FCP project for the last 8 months. Recently audio clips that I’ve been working with for months and some that are brand new somehow started to play incorrectly. If played alone they are perfect but if played as part of a sequence of audio clips sometimes they play perfectly, sometimes they cut off at the end. They always seem to start in the correct spot when played with other clips but, by the end of the sequence, a second or even more than a second will be cropped. The picture I’m seeing on the screen of my sequence will be exactly the same the whole time- just sometimes it plays straight through and sometimes it doesn’t.
This makes it hard to edit audio because I’m second guessing every single clip and cannot properly critique them as a whole (as part of a sequence). This happens with and without corresponding footage although the footage is NEVER cut short. With an image attached, the audio starts to slip and the image will end on time but with audio that is a little slow. The audio ends prematurely but the picture ends on time. Does this make any sense? It sure doesn’t to me.
I’ve re-started my computer and created new sequences but the same thing happens (on occasion). It is happening in old and new sequences. I am working in DVC PRO HD 720P 60 at 24fps. When I export the problematic sequence to QT the .mov file is perfect and does not reflect any of these problems. Any ideas? I don’t want to rebuild this whole project!
