  • Audio slip for playback?

I heard that FCP can slip the audio during playback to correct for bad sync. Is this possible when just playing back (as opposed to recording to tape)?

My problem: I’m recording straight from FCP to a set-top DVD burner and I always have a little bit of a sync issue – especially noticeable during talking heads. Is there a feature in FCP that I can slip audio on a whole project, instead of adjusting each and every audio track?

Thanks in advance for the help,

    Bill

There is a way to offset playback, but I don’t know how to offset just audio.

Heres my solution: take your edited sequence and put it into a new one then all you have to do is offset one track and with out harming your editing one. I use the ‘+’ and ‘-‘ keys to move the clip by frames, it’s easier and more precise than the mouse.

Caution: make sure there really is a problem in the sync relationship of the files before you end up “fixing” something thast ain’t broke. Your sync problem could be in playback, in the monitoriing system(s) you’re using…

Easiest way to check the actual sync is to find a single sync point in audio and video that you can check by scrubbing frames. 400 pound weight dropping on studio floor, pencil eraer thwacking desk, etc. Identify the frame and see where the sound falls in the waveform.
