    Hi
This is a very small yet extremely annoying problem, probably just a setting–something dumb, but it is really irritating me. On my dual G4 desktop Mac, the audio plays fine when pressing play/spacebar, but when I step/arrow through it, there is no sound. (even when doubling up on the speed) On the powerbook, I get the sound. This is too helpful when editing to tracks, and I am spending extra time trying to get each edit exact. I have tried changing the audio playback to internal sound, external speakers, and “audio follows video”, but still nothing. Any ideas?

    The desktop is running:
Dual G4 867, 2 monitors, Creative Labs 5.1 speakers; outputting through a DVcam to an NTSC monitor. A/V Settings are: Preset: DV NTSC 48 kHz, Capture: DV NTSC 48 kHz, Device Control: Firewire NTSC, Video playback: Apple Firewire NTSC (720*480), and Audio Playback: Firewire DV.

    The Powerbook is running:
Basic system, internal audio, FCP settings set the same as above

    Hi Tim

You’re right, it is a simple setting. Just go to View > Audio Scrubbing and make sure it is ticked.
As it’s keyboard shortcut is SHIFT-S, I often find I turn it off accidentally.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards
    Peter
