    Hello,
I am trying to do a digital cut to mini-dv from my Avid ExpressPro and when I go to make the cut a window pops up and says:
“Not all audio segments are at the project sample rate. Please convert before performing a digital cut.”

I have figured out the problem lies in some music I’ve imported from our music library. It didn’t ask me to convert it when I brought the file in and after checking I have noticed it has the same sample rate as the rest of my project. However when I turn those off the tracks where the music file lies the digital cut runs fine.

I have tried deleting the tracks… moving the audio file to an already exsiting track… re-importing the track as a wave file. The settings are all at 48kHz. I am so stumped as to why I can do the digital cut with this audio track.

Should I make a copy of my project and then select the whole sequence and try a sample rate change that way?
Any advice you can provide would be super!!
    Thanks!
    Kim

All of the audio in your project needs to be 48KHz if you will output to any digital VTR. If you imported audio from CD, that is at a 44.1KHz sample rate, and it needs to be sample-rate converted before outputting your project. Most Avid versions will ask you if you want to convert upon import when you try to bring in material that doesn’t match the project settings.

New issue however… i am now getting a DIO hardware underrun error when doing the digital cut. I am not running any other programs other than Avid.
    Any suggestions here?

You could try “Audio Mixdown” so you would only end up with your 2 audio tracks. When doing that it should convert the sample rate for you if it is off, just be sure that your mixdown is to 48.

Kim, have a check of your Audio Project settings. We often find on NewsCutter XP that the project sample rate changes after an audio file is imported at the wrong sample rate. It should of course be 48KHz.

The is an option on the ‘Audio’ tab of ‘Import Settings’ called ‘Convert Source Sample rate to project sample rate on import’.
