Audio Relinking in FCP for a RED Feature
So our 4.5k RED feature is picture locked and we are trying to relink the master audio in FCP.
My original plan was just to pull the selects into REDCineX, auto-reconnect the audio via timecode and render out. That process works just fine, but trying to relink it back into FCP is where there are problems.
The original dailies with the cam-feed audio had 4 audio tracks when originally rendered out (usually just the 1st channel had any audio), and when I try to reconnect the newly rendered video files featuring the new audio in FCP, if the audio tracks aren’t equal (ie, if the new render doesn’t have exactly 4 audio tracks), I get an error message, and then the video relinks to the new clip, but it retains the old audio from the original dailes.
Can anyone provide any thoughts, different workflows, or people/companies that could potentially help (the audio post house in LA couldn’t reconform properly, but I don’t know if they are familiar with RED workflow stuff)?

So you didn’t bring in the master audio and use the Meege Audio option in FCP when you brought the footage in initially? You edited with the camera audio and now want to just link to the master audio?
It doesn’t work that way. You bring the audio in and link it before you start editing. You did it wrong. And there is Bo easy fix.
But you aren’t alone. You are the 7th person I know of this month that did it wrong.

FCP keeps track of clip attributes ‘somewhere’ in the project file.
So you need to trash that info. No idea where it is stored though.It is connected to the file names. So if you rename the files (perhaps just renaming the folder is good enough as well), FCP should show you the corrected files.
Now of course this will probably mess up your sequences, but the clips should relink.
