What do you mean “audio editing”? Morty suggested ACID which is more “music composition”. When I think audio editing I think of Sound Forge. Even the less expensive Sound Forge Studio is a powerful audio editor. Of course Vegas can also do audio editing at the event level. What kind of “edits” are you looking to make?

Yes Vegas does great with multichannel audio. It supports dirext x and VST pluggins. It’s limitation is it has no midi tracks or virtual instruments, but if all your tracks are audio waves, Vegas will work fine. Vegas was audio only for the first two versions by the way. Danny Hays

Maybe I should stick to vegas then. I need some simple drums to keep the beat. (hope for something that is easy to use with built-in patterns…) Do you know where to get a drum machine plug in? Or can`t I use something like that in Vegas?
