Activity Forums Adobe Premiere Pro Audio Question

I have asked this question in the Audition/Soundbooth Forum, but have not gotten any response. I thought that one of you professionals who deal with audio and video might be able to answer my question. I just purchased Adobe Master Collection that includes Soundbooth. I am just a novice when it comes to audio. However, I am determined to learn more. Until now, I have been using Adobe Audition 1.0 to make minor audio edits. I see on the Adobe website that I can upgrade Audition to 3.0 for only $99. However, now that I have Soundbooth, I’m not sure I will need to. Can someone please tell me what the difference is between Soundbooth and Audition? Is it worth it to have both? Any information would be appreciated.

I don’t have the list of feature differences in front of me, and I wish they kept Audition instead of throwing us the dumbdown version that is Soundbooth, but it will very likely handle most of you audio needs.

Unfortunately, neither works well with Premiere.

Until OMF import is supported on either one of them, you are restricted to importing entire single tracks which is an audio editing workflow nightmare for these modern times. You could use the “edit in Audition” feature which is back in Audition 3, but that restricts you to one clip… I hope you have time on your hands.

If you are serious about audio editing, you would be better off getting a version of Protool. The basic version won’t cost you much more than audition.

I really like Soundforge. Very intuitive but have not compared.

    Best,
