I am trying to import a .m4a audio file to the time line and am unable to do so. I have done it in the past, and am wondering if I changed a setting.

Normally I rip a CD into iTunes, then go to my iTunes music folder on my hard drive and import the file. No problem! I have done this today and it will not allow me to drop the file onto the time line.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

I agree that the M4A files should work if they have no DRM. I did read that one of the newer Quicktime updates caused some problems for Vegas. So it might be a Quicktime problem.

My only suggestion is to use MP3 instead of M4A when you rip using iTunes (this is what I do) or rip using Vegas instead (which will make nice high quality WAV files).

I’m thinking it is the Quicktime update. I looked back at some old .veg files in which I applied the same method for retrieving audio files and they would open fine, but listed the audio elements specific to iTunes as missing.

I am going to attempt to uninstall Quicktime and see if this works.

    Thanks for taking a look.

Well… ya’ can’t leave it uninstalled because it’s needed to read the .m4a files. What you need is an older or newer version than what you currently have (assuming they have fixed this in a newer version)
