Today was a great day for me, since I discovered how to adjust the volume of the audio using that fantastic purple line by adding points! This is going to save me hours of editing.
Anyway, I’m cutting some interviews and have some music in the background. I’d like to only have the music in either the left or right speaker, and I’m curious what your thoughts were on which speaker would be more appropriate. The subject is looking toward the left side of the frame.
Thanks for the help in advance!

“I’d like to only have the music in either the left or right speaker…”

Why bother? You already said the music is in the background so I’d leave it alone. Having it come out of one speaker only would, IMO, be a distraction and take away from the video.

I agree with Mike. If there was a radio in the picture and it was on the left, it might make sense to pan the music slightly to the left to make it appear as if the music is coming from the radio, but in the absence of an obvious source, I would just leave it equal in both. Otherwise our eyes and ears would be out of sync (i.e., the ear would be hearing something that the eye can’t explain)

What happens if the person watching it is only listening in mono?
All your beautiful stereo work goes bye-bye 🙁

I understand. I’ll be adding the music to the video. I can see how this would be considered a distraction and even the mono scenario! Well…I received more terrible advice from a friend. Thanks for the assistance.
