Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Audio Question

I often use mp3 music files in my FCP edits. Before importing the music I convert them either in iTunes or Quicktime to AIFF. When I them import AIFF the audio levels are very high! Why is this? I typically turn the level down to -12bd, a level I understand to be good for video editing.
    Thanks.

Music seems to often be mixed up to 0db. But just to check, bring in the mp3 and compare the levels to the aif, just to make sure you’re not boosting the audio in your process.
