  • Posted by Chris Poisson on December 1, 2008 at 4:19 pm

I’m finishing a show in which there are two presenters, a guy and a woman. The guy sounds great, but the woman has a much more nasal-ish cutting quality to her voice, so even a similar levels, she cuts through too much.

I’d like to correct this without going into SoundTrack Pro. So, what filter(s) in FCP do you suggest I try?

    Have a wonderful day.

I rarely use Final Cut’s audio filters because…uh…they kind of suck. But if you really want to do it in there…I’d try using the AUGraphicEQ filter and try to lower the frequency/frequencies that have the nasty nasal-y sound…

    Thanks Brian,

Yes, I know they suck, but so would round-tripping into STP, as the audio is all over the place, and it’s a complex edit.

    So thanks.

    Have a wonderful day.

    Hi Chris,

Not that I’d want to talk you in to using it, but round-tripping to STP really isn’t that bad or complex; and the result is just a new sequence in your current project with the addition of single mixed stereo track below your existing audio.

SO, play around with it when you get the chance; I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at what a sophisticated tool STP can be.

    Hey Stace,

What scares me is that there’s 4 tracks of audio in this footage, and it seems to have been miced differently over the course of a two day shoot with two cameras. So sometimes I have good clean two tracks for the talent and sometimes each one is on a single track. The timeline looks like a mess.

    Still okay in STP?

    Have a wonderful day.
