Audio Punch-In Configuration
I am trying to perform an Audio Punch-in, but am having trouble making a successful audio input connection. I’ve been able to do an Audio Punch-In with the equipment I am about to describe in the past, so I know that it works, but I forgot how it was set up.
Using XPress Pro 4.6 on a Mac G5, I have a DSR-11 connected via firewire. The mic I use is from a cheap camcorder, which I connected via RCA cables to the input on the back of the DSR-11. When the DSR-11’s Input Select is set to Video, I am able to get sound from my external speakers that the deck is outputting to, but Avid doesn’t pick it up. If I set its Input Select to DV (as it normally is set to), I naturally hear nothing from the camcorder’s mic.
I’ve also tried connecting the camcorder directly to the computer (firewire) and successfully adjusted Avid’s Deck Configuration Setting to it, but it still doesn’t pick up the mic’s audio. I also adjusted all the different Input settings (OHCI, Digital In, Line In) in both Audio Project Settings and Audio Punch-In Tool to , but none work.
