    how do i fix
audio property mismatch between timeline and clips.

These clips were played from a HDV mini-dv tape via HDMI recorded to a ki pro hard drive as apple pro res 422 then copied to a macbook pro and imported into FCP.

I was experiencing much longer renders than I am used to. Then I opened project and got an error warning: something about that the media type not being compatible with FCP. Not the exact words. What’s funny is I’ve reopened this project several times without the error message. Aside from the longer renders it plays back fine. But the AJA rep on the Aja ki pro forum pointed out that the audio properties were mismatched.

There is no sample rate mismatch. FCP sequences are normally 32 bit float and clips should be either 16 or 24 bit. If your render bars are for audio, then you should change sequence settings.

Open a new sequence, drag one of these KiPro clips into the timeline and when FCP asks if you want to change the sequence to match the clip say yes. Compare that sequence and see what settings are different. You could then copy>paste the whole timeline into the new sequence and see if you have render bars popping up, or change the settings in the original sequence.

Thanks Michael. I’ve never changed the sequence settings after setting up a project. If I change a property the entire sequence will just render to the new setting?

I’m pretty sure when I first set up this sequence that final cut matched the clips.

But either something is slowing the renders down or maybe its the fact that this sequence is longer than my usual. It’s almost 1 hr 45 min. 10 min clips are taking as long as an hour to render after some basic color correction.

I’ll try your suggestion of dragging one of the clips to a new sequence and seeing what settings fc chooses.

Not sure why I got an error message that the clips are not FCP compatible or words to that effect.

New sequence. Exactly the same settings. Oh well. I’ll finish the project and do some trouble shooting later.
