Audio problems on Panasonic DVCPro HD tape
Hello
We’re shooting on Vericam (720p/25 at 60hz) and have had audio problems in an important interview.
Two tapes shot on the same day have digital distortion/glitches through them but the recording levels are fine. We were recording with a radio mic and a boom and both tracks have the same problem. One part of the tape was recorded with camera mic only and it has the same problem, as does the tone at the head of the tape.
The problem cleared up towards the end of the first tape but was there at the start of the second tape. The last shot of the second tape was clean.
The picture is fine and the camera operator didn’t see any error messages during the recording.
After playing back the tape a few times the problem appeared to get worse in parts but I played it back on a different deck and the bits that seemed to get worse were no worse than the rest of the tape.
Firstly, does anyone have any ideas what could have caused the problem?
And secondly, does anyone know if it’s possible to extract the analogue “cue track” (the audio you can hear when you spool a tape) in the longitudinal track??
We were shooting on Panasonic DVCPRO tapes (AJ-P126LP).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks.
