Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Audio Problems

My work just recently upgraded to a new camera and editing system. We have final cut pro 5 on a dual 2.0 G5. We just got the Sony HDR-FX1. Last night we shot a concert with a 2 camera setup. One camera was the sony VX-2000 and the new HD cam we purchased. The audio sounds great when played back on the HD camera and on our DV deck that we use strictly for capturing. But after the initial capture when we play back on the computer, the level is very low and there are some cracks and pops in the audio. We are totally stumped why it is doing this. The footage we shot with the VX2000 looks and sounds great. Also both cameras audio bitrate is set to 16 bit. Any information would help. Thank you so much!

Did you shoot HDV or DV with the FX1? If HDV, are you capturing it as such, or converting it to DV or?

Make sure the sample rate of your digitzied audio matches the sample rate of your sequence. If they’re different, FCP will often produce crackles and pops as you descibe.

    All the best,
