Has anyone experienced audio dropouts in clips?

If I zoom in on the waveform in the FCP timeline or viewer at the dropout, it “flatlines” at that point. Others in my office are having the same problem. I have tried the mixdown trick to no avail…I have tried to re-digitize and the dropouts are still there, but they are not audible on the original tape.

    My system is:
    G5 dual 2
Panasonic 250 DVCPro deck connected via Firewire
LaCie 250GB firewire HD connected via firewire800

    Any ideas?

What CAMERA did you use to shoot the tape(s) in question?

Some are shot with Panasonic DVCPro25 cameras; various models – I would consider them all professional quality, but my most recent encounter with this problem came from tapes recorded in a Panasonic AJ-SD955 studio deck.
