  • Audio Problem: Timeline and Rendering

Hi, I am currently using Sony Vegas Pro 9 to edit a project and have recently found a problem which I can’t seem to find a solution for. After rendering my video, audio in certain parts of the project are very choppy. There are only two audio tracks, so I know the program can handle it. What confuses me the most is that after rendering my project, when going back to the timeline to search for the problem, I found the audio choppy in the same areas. Only after rendering did this problem occur. I’ve already tried deleting and replacing the audio with its original, but it proves to still be choppy. What’s more is that when the original audio is played in the trimmer, not the timeline, it’s perfectly smooth. Any solution to this frustrating problem would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

What format are the audio files? Try using 48K/16-bit WAV files if they are not in that format already.

The audio files are in Mp3 format, I seem to have found a simple, possibly temporary fix. I shut down the program and the computer, and then restarted and it seems that the audio runs flawlessly now. After it completes rendering, I’ll have to see if the problem arises again. If it does come up again, should I try using an external program to convert the files to 48K/16-bit WAV and then import them into the project? Thank you

Well… you don’t need an external program. You can render the MP3 files to WAV right from within Vegas. (of course if Vegas stops playing them it will be a silent recording) 😉
