[Stephen Mann] “I like the spectral concept because I do record some dance recitals and they invariably have a tap number or two. If I could enhance the tap without PZM microphones that would be a plus.”

What you need is the right mic. Check out the “TAP SHOE MIC” at https://shop.q5x.com/
    It’s only $2,500.00 🙂

Many thanks anyway, even if it only took you minutes, it may save my reputation with this producer.

As I mentioned above, some of my projects include dance recitals which almost always have a tap number or two. Would RX let me find and enhance the shoe taps on the stage?

Steve, if you have a sample of the tap you’d like to enhance, I’ll give it a go through iZo II .

You should be able to see them in a spectrogram and select for manual amplification. However you may also want to try an automatic approach with a transient shaper (which is not a part of RX).
