February 10, 2013 at 12:24 amDon’t you love a challenge?
As I said, the distortion is everywhere. Or as Graham said, it’s a mess.I was kind of hoping that you could perform some spectral Layers magic on it so that I could justify buying the software. Were you able to make any improvement with SL?
(Does any of my long tale of woe post add anything to the analysis?)
Thanks again,

February 10, 2013 at 6:32 amI’m gonna ask a really really dumb question.
Is it at all possible that you’ve gotten a mismatch of sampling rates – somewhere? If I place a 44 on a 48 Vegas Timeline I get something approaching this. Would it be as something “simple” as needing to align the sampling rates – somewhere?
I have a Presonus Audio box. It is a very very simple 2 Channel affair. It uses ASIO drivers – that’s another story! – but within the setup menus of the drivers is an option to elect for sampling rates. How and what is your initial workflow with regard to sampling rates? Is it different to that which you did in-studio compared to that which was on-site? If this IS tcase, and you have the RAW recording, maybe, just maybe, it could be a resetting of the sampling rates rather than a post-operative remedy!
Steve I feel for yah buddy . . . . .

February 10, 2013 at 12:05 pmI wasn’t able to get anywhere with it. I could do nothing at all. Spectral Layers is not the easiest program to navigate. In fact it’s quite confusing for one not versed in audio to begin with however I have had some fantastic results. Unfortunately not in your case.
I think they have a free trial.
It just seemed that for some reason the click could not be distinguished from the other audio happening at the same time.

February 10, 2013 at 5:07 pmGraham – when I gang the two Firepods I am limited to 44KHz, so a mismatch isn’t likely. I am pretty certain that the problem is that the laptop can’t handle the data rate when all sixteen channels have sound.
