    Hi,

I’ve had a bunch of computer problems lately. I recently had to get a brand new hard drive which means I had to reload all of my software.

Well, since doing so, I can’t get any audio playback through final cut pro. I can see the audio meters bouncing away, but I can’t hear anything. Yes, the speakers are plugged in. Yes, audio works through other programs like iTunes.

What setting am I missing here to make this work?

    Jason,

Check your External Video settings and your Playback settings, they may be set wrong. If they are set to firewire out for video playback to a deck (for example), your internal audio will be mute.

Connect a TV Set and Speakers to your DV Deck or Camcorder and work that way. Your speakers will always be on.

Don’t connect the speakers to the Mac if you want to monitor video, which you should. It gets confusing if you hook up speakers to the Mac.
