Hi everyone, this is a two-part question.

    1) Is it possible to extract the PITCH (frequency) data from an audio file and use it as keyframes. I know how to do it with the amplitude, but I’m wondering if it can detect the actual tone of a wav.

    2) Is it possible to take these keyframes, and use them only to advance forward? eg: if it’s a low pitched tone, the video would play in slow motion, and as the audio tone gets higher – the video speed increases?

I want to create an animation that is controlled by an audio track – I want it to progress slower when the audio is at a low note, and quicker when it’s at a high note. At no point should the video reverse, although it should be stationary if the soundtrack is silent.

    Thanks everyone!

You should be able to do what you want with Trapcode’s Sound Keys. It will let you isolate different frequency ranges and integrate the output (using the Falloff parameter) so that it only advances when tones in that range are present.
