Audio path question
Posted by James Dow on September 11, 2018 at 2:04 pmIf I wanted to add a Compressor/Limiter and a Behringer Feedback Eliminator in between the mixer output and powered speakers, what should the correct signal path be?
Thanks,

September 12, 2018 at 12:33 pmI would take the output from the mixer and put it through the compressor/limiter first, and then through the feedback eliminator and out to the powered speakers. Reason: The feedback-eliminator needs “final say” in what the levels at various frequencies should be (in order to control feedback). If you put the compressor/limiter AFTER the feedback-eliminator, then they will be fighting with each other.

Recording audio without metering and monitoring is exactly like framing and focusing without looking at the viewfinder. -

That’s exactly how I’d do it.

October 29, 2018 at 8:53 pmThanks Ty and Richard. That’s how I did it, now I just need to get more familiar with the controls on the C/L and Feedback Eliminator. Do you have any suggestions for initial settings if must of what I’m doing is just people talking through 2-3 different microphones? (Typically in a high school gymnasium) Mixer is a Mackie ProFX12.
Thanks,
