  • Audio partly missing in Vegas 9d

From all the video films I made the last years, I kept copies on external harddisks.

I needed to make wmv files from a number of these avi files. I used Vegas 9d pro (in combination with Production Assistant) to convert these DV-avi files to .wmv. It turned out that all these avi files lacked the last part of the audio, while the video part was complete. The lacking part differs: sometimes 20%, sometimes 80% of the audio is gone. It also occurs without using Production Assistant.

I checked other copies of the same files on other harddisks, and everywhere the same problem. No matter whether I imported them into Vegas directly from the external disk or first copied them to the internal disk.

Finally I found out that the files are missing the audio only in Vegas 9d, but not in Vegas 8 or in DVDA5.

Is this a known problem of Vegas 9d? Or doen anybody knows what’s going on here?

Wow, I’ve never seen this. If it works in Vegas 8 it may be a bug in Vegas 9. I would report it to Sony so they can see if it needs fixing.

OK. The strange thing is that there is no problem with DV-avi files created in Vegas 9.

I will ask Sony what they think of it.
