Having this strange problem that goes away and comes back with our decklink system.

Mastering to tape via SDI, the audio will sometimes (but not always) be out of sync by a frame in either direction. I’m not talking about an insert here but laying down the video and audio in one pass via sdi to a Digibeta deck (DVW A500a) with an assemble edit.

Running latest mac os, latest Decklink drives, Latest FCP update. Macintosh G5 dual 2ghz, 2 gigs of ram.

I can tell it’s out of sync because on the master the beep (at -2 seconds) will not line up with the “2 pop”.. whereas on the FCP sequence it’s lined up perfectly.

I’ve tried.. trashing prefs, reinstalling, changing cables, both SDI and RS422, Checking settings in FCP… Kind of stymied.

    Any ideas?

I would start by trying to use a blacked tape with TC throughout & then using the Master to Tape function set to “Editing” rather than “Mastering”. I’ve had incidences of extra frames & such like & found that this is the best solution.

Thanks. We’ll give that a try.
