So I upgraded my G4 from 10.3.9 to Tiger 10.4.11 and Im working on FCP 4.5…

I took a hard drive home from work and the prob is when I drop the video onto the timeline Im only seeing audio on the A1 track show…yet the other channel I know is there because when I play the file in Quicktime I can hear it…just not in FCP…what am I doing wrong here??

Did you have the CAPTURE pre-sets in the proper configuration to capture each channel?

Yup. We capture vids everyday at work and on those comps it comes in no problem…

Im worried that somehow in my upgrade in OS and Quiktime updating that somehow thats affected the audio…

Again when I play the file in Quicktime I hear that other channel (its a wireless mic on channel 2) yet in FCP when I pull the video onto the track I just get that 1 channel…??

    William
Do you hear both channels if/when you play the clip in the captured Viewer window?
Do the clip’s item properties correct reflect multiple channel audio is present, and do you see multiple audio tabs if/when the clip is loaded in the Viewer window?
Did you set your source / target patching in the timeline for both channels?
    Cheers
    Andy

Not really sure about the patching thing…never had this prob before..

I mean I havent changed any FCP preferences and the capturing at work is done the same..

Maybe Im not understanding the patch thing. Still kinda lost.. =(

Here you go William, have a read of this … for the time being just concentrate on the info regarding patching, save the section on auto select till your comfortable with the former.
