I’m an amature video guy that doesn’t have a good understanding of audio. Now I have a project in front of me with which the audio is a significant component. In a nutshell, it’s an animated monthly newsletter to the employees of a company presented in a news broadcast with the executives being the anchors. So those executives each sent me their audio file and I create the scene. The audio sent is a decent voiceover but I’d like to improve it in post. My question. Is this: do I combine the three separate clips and add the same compression, EQ, etc. to all or do I tweak each individually as needed?

Not exactly the place to begin if you need to learn Audition, but this describes the multitrack features of the software. You will want to use this to edit together the three separate pieces of audio. And you can add effects here which are editable, rather than applying them directly like you do if you’re editing a single track.
