i use windows/vegas and have no problem rendering in any format. but my friend has fcp5 and is trying to render in mpeg2 format. he says that there is no mpeg 2 option and the one he think is mpeg2 says m2v or something like that. he said this was mpg2 but there is no audio on it. can anyone help him?
    thanks

Your friend is right about mv2 being mpeg2. The way I encode mv2s is to export a ref file from FCP. Then I use Compressor or BitVice to make the mv2 from that file. At the same time, you also export an aiff audio file of the program and use Compressor to make that an ac3. Then both the mv2 and ac3 are married together in DVDSP or another DVD authoring program. At that point you can hear the audio.

If you want to do a Muxed MPG-2 (video and audio together), you need to apply a MPG-2 preset in Compressor and select: Multiplexed MPG-1 Layer-2 Audio (In the Extras tab).

    Hi Eric,
But be aware that the audio MP1-Layer2), is a quite old codec. Very little efficient and yielding less quality than .ac3 with the same data rate.
