Audio Mixing
Hi I am a learner user of the vegas 6 editing software, I am having trouble getting my audio mixing to preview at all in the time line. The Project I am working on is a simple two tracks, 1 being attached to the d/v footage and 2 a sound track. I have bused them onto the mixer and can alter the track volumes as should occur but thats about it. Cant seem to find anyway of reviewing what ive done. I have the Revealed Offical Guide by saahlin) but cant seem to work this one out.
Sorry about the lack of good jargon as I am just entering this new world in a self taught manner.
Prob somthing simple Im doin wrong. Oh ive tried rendering a portion of the project to see if that works without successcheers simon

To create your audio mix use envelopes.
Select the audio track and hit v and you will see a blue line appear across the center of the track. Double-click on the blue line and you can drag the point that appears that to adjust the volume. Add more points to keep adjusting.

Thanks – V is cetainly quicker than the method I’ve been using – Insert/Audio envelopes/Volume. Which leads me to ask, why have we got two ways of doing the same thing? V and shift-V both add a volume envelope. It gets even more confusing when you look at the Cutomize Keyboard list.
shift-V is listed as Insert/Envelope/TrackVolume.
V is listed as View/Envelope/Track volume.
But if you select, via the top menu bar, View/Audio Envelopes/Track volume, you find instead of adding an envelope to the selected track, you are globally turning envelopes on or off.
Am I missing something?

There’s an important difference between V and Shift/V.
V will toggle the envelopes on an off being seen on the timeline. Shift/V will also toggle, but wil delete all your points!
