Audio Metering Help (especially in regards to DV Promix 3)
I’m little confused about whether or not the LED meter on my DV promix 3 mixer is a peak or a VU meter. The manual says that the meter “was designed to emulate the peak reading attributes found on many DV cams.” But the scale reads -20, -10,17,-5,-1,0,1,2,3. This is very different from the peak meter on my Panasonic DVX100a. I’m very new to audio and just bought this mixer. Can somebody tell me if 0dB on the mixer should equal 0db on the camera, or if 0 dB on the mixer equals -12 db on the DVX. I’m attempting to calibrate the two meters by use of an external tone generator (behringer CT100).
I would greatly appreciate any info.
Thanks!
