Hi, it would appear to me that the audio coming from DVCAM is low, even though the vu meters on the DSR 80 which it was recorded are around the -12 db mark to not peak at zero and get distorted audio,

What should the wave forms look like in vegas and DVDA? how can i tell if the level is high enough.

On burned DVD’s the levels (on dvd player’s meters) are definately low campared to prerecorded DVD, and even Garys training DVD’s. My stuff is hovering around -30 db, sure i can turn up the receiver but is this correct?

And how do i fix it since i can;t adjust the input levels on DV inputs like analog.

Even though it was recorded on a DSR 80, i have to use my DSR 390 camera as a feeder to vegas since vegas will still not communicate with my DSR 30 and the DSR 80 is only component or SDI, but the vu meters on the dsr 390 look about right, so it looks like i should bump the audio in vegas , but then again how do i know when i have too much. do the waveworms indicate levels? should they fill the track at the peaks? and what is the best way to do that to a whole track.

i have cool edit 2000 as an audio editor but it does not interface with vegas (it appears) and when i try to edit audio from a vegas track the audio is just a bunch of noise. Any help there?

    Thanks
    Wayne

When rendering to AC3, the audio level will drop UNLESS you make some changes. Try this:

    In the AC3 “custom” screen:

Change the dialog normalization to -31

On the PreProcessing tab, change both the Line mode profile and RF mode profile to NONE.
