    Hi,

Normally I edit on AVID and my audio is under -10 with peaks no hotter than -12.

Is this the same on FCP? What about when your final output is for the Web. I feel like I’ve heard that for both web and DVD, you should mix hotter b/c the compression (?) lowers the audio. Is this true? And if so, what level to you suggest mixing to?

Im very much a novice to FCP.

    Thanks!

Your Avid guidelines are pretty much the same for FCP. For the web, I compress and normalize audio. The only concern I’d have is the levels of existing audio on the site. You want your audio to be consitent with that audio. This is why there are detailed audio specs for broadcast. If yours is the only audio being used, then max it.
