Is anyone aware of a standard db level emerging for web videos or are people still just pushing the levels as high as they can go without distortion so as to compete with every other web video? Does anyone use broadcast standards for their web videos and if so is it really quiet in comparison to everything else?

I ask simply because I’ve been mixing all my web videos as loud as I can (without distortion) for years now and haven’t really though about it for a long time. I’m curious if anything has changed while I wasn’t paying attention or if the “rules” for web videos are still dictated by nonprofessionals?

    Thanks!

I aim to keep the levels at -6db. No too loud, and lower enough to avoid distortion.

Finnish audio dudes/dudettes usually mix it to -0.1

Typically I do it at -3 to -2 peak.

The reason is, clients have complained of levels being to low
at typical broadcast levels…a lot of folks don’t have amplified speakers.
